South Africa Sponsor Logo

One of our members will take in a sponsored cycle ride (with a difference!) later this year in aid of Regain, a charity that aims to improve the independence of people who have become tetraplegic as a result of an injury. You can find out more about Regain by clicking here or read their own description:

Regain Logo REGAIN is the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to improving the lives of men and women who have become tetraplegic in a sporting accident. One minute these individuals are fit, active and healthy, the next they are paralysed, unable to move and in need of support for the rest of their lives.

REGAIN supports tetraplegics by providing financial help to purchase a wide range of specialist equipment that enables them to become independent again. REGAIN also prides itself on encouraging tetraplegics to take part in sporting activities again after their accidents and provides numerous grants every year for sports wheelchairs and hand cycles.

REGAIN also helps tetraplegics emotionally by directing tetraplegics to the relevant professionals for counselling, legal or other professional help.

Our member, Moray, is raising funds now in thanks for the help that he received from Regain after his accident. Moray gave a presentation on Regain at our district's convention and as a result of this helping Moray became a district project. From this other Lions Clubs and individuals have donated around £2,100. In addition, our own club has raised over £500.

If you would like to help Moray reach his fundraising goal you can visit his Just Giving page here.
